Legitimate Work At Home Positions and Requirements

Working from home is becoming more and more popular these days. There are plenty of legitimate opportunities to work from your own home office in various venues. There are vast online resources that provide information to anyone that wants a job from home from freelance writing to inbound customer service agents.

Beware of those resources that tell you it is a Work At Home opportunity but really mean you have to pay to start your own business. Legitimate work from home positions are available, you just need to know where to find them.

It does help to know someone that works from home that can guide you like a mentor to help you find legitimate home work. Many outsourcing companies provide positions in many different areas. You should be able to find a job you can do from your home office in your area of expertise.

You should never have to pay for one of these legitimate jobs. You may have to pay to get the information about where to find them, but you should never have to pay to work for a company. Many outsourcing and Work At Home companies provide paid training. Before you apply to any company that claims to have open work from home positions available, check their reputation on the Internet through the Better Business Bureau.

If you have difficulty getting a response from contacting any company, walk away and move to the next one.
It is possible to find the perfect job for you where you can use your home office. Each company that provides a job, contract or a freelance position for you at home will have various requirements.

Here is a partial list of some things you will need or be willing to obtain for a Work At Home position.

A quiet dedicated office or area in your home with a door that is free from distractions and noise

A PC with a mouse and keyboard that has the minimum requirements set forth by the company

A dedicated landline phone as most companies do not allow VoIP or cellular phone service

A broadband Internet connection

A USB headset

An OS and/or certain software that meets the company’s requirements – Any special software is sometimes provided by the company

A multi-function printer with copy/scan/print/fax capabilities

This is a partial list of home office requirements that may be necessary for basic home employment or contract position. The requirements will depend on the position available.

A Work At Home Customer Service position will have the above requirements. Transcription positions, legal or medical, require specific equipment and software (they may or may not provide this software). As mentioned previously, some (not all) companies do provide necessary software like accounting, editing or transcription software. This is sometimes determined by whether the position is employee based or contractor based.

Legitimate outsourcing companies have a support network in case you have problems with a customer, deadlines, technical problems or any other issue you may encounter.
