A quiet dedicated office or area in your home with a door that is free from distractions and noise

A USB headset

An OS and/or certain software that meets the company’s requirements – Any special software is sometimes provided by the company

Transcription positions, legal or medical, require specific equipment and software (they may or may not provide this software). As mentioned previously, some (not all) companies do provide necessary software like accounting, editing or transcription software. This is sometimes determined by whether the position is employee based or contractor based.
